Stingray Black Copper

Until recently, I’d been using a Magneto mechanical mod for my coil builds.  Various build problems aggravated me, and when it broke, I replaced it with a Stingray clone.

All of the contacts on the Stingray are copper, which enhances conductivity. I suspected this was a gimmick, but it does actually heat up more quickly.

Stingray Top Cap

The top cap has a floating firing pin, which allows any tank or dripper to sit flush. Here it is with a Patriot RDA. With a 0.9Ω coil, it generates massive clouds.

As is apparent from the pictures, the bottom and top caps are well ventilated for both airflow and heat dissipation. The bottom cap uses magnetic resistance rather than a spring.

This unit is incredibly small, being only about 1/2″ longer than the battery used in it. It comes with tubes for 18350, 18500, and 18650 batteries. With the longest 18650, it’s still shorter than my MVP, and with the 18350, it’s roughly the same length as a Zippo lighter. Each individual tube comes with a locking ring installed.

In a way, the shortest tube is too small. I often found my hand was covering the air holes, forcing me to hold it in an awkward fashion.  Still, it’s nice to have the option.

For $60, this is one of the best mechanical mods on the market.
