Saturday Info Dump

First off, the gun porn:

New Ahrends cocobolo stocks on one of my L-Frames.  In recent years, Smith & Wesson retired their square-butt frames and standardized on round butts across the board.  This is a disappointment, as the square butt feels and shoots better for me.  Fortunately, Mr. Ahrends makes a conversion stock that emulates the traditional grip contour.

Yes, it’s my summer carry gun.  I have little trouble concealing it.  Take note: hiding a handgun isn’t as hard as you’d think.

In other news, I’ve been getting lectured lately about chemtrails (not to be confused with contrails).  Apparently, the idea is that the government, in league with the Zeta Reticuli space aliens, are using aerosolized chemicals to deplete the food supply as part of a plan engineered by the New World Order to reduce the human population to a manageable level.

I am not kidding.  Here’s a wonky site that explains the whole thing.  It’s a complex web of lurid fantasy, wanton paranoia and typographical incompetence on a truly epic scale.  I should note that the guy pushing this also believed that the government was lacing flu shots with mind-control drugs.

He was also giving away DVD’s.  By giving away, I mean that he was foisting them on the unsuspecting with all the sweaty glee of a newly-minted Jonestown recruit.  I’m usually opposed to any sort of contempt prior to investigation, but given the way this matter is (and has been) presented to me, I’ll make an exception here.  I really don’t need to hear any more of this crap, especially when so much of it is laced with not-so-subtle undertones of anti-Semitism.

What is it about a Democratic administration that brings these nutjobs out?  We heard all about the New World Order during the Clinton administration, and now it’s apparently Y2K all over again.  Lovely.

On a less disturbing but equally bothersome note, I have heard two different media outlets report that Sonia Sotomayor is the first Hispanic appointed to the Supreme Court.  I believe that honor goes to Benjamin Cardozo, who served during the Roosevelt administration.  I also have it on pretty good authority that she is not the first woman appointed, as I’ve heard one outlet report.
